Our NPO organized for the 21st time the European-standards-based “Dinner in the Dark” on 📅 Thursday, October 16th, 2025, at the 📍 Cretan Center “Aori”.

The Dinner in the Dark is a unique experiential event that more than 3,600 people have had the opportunity to live so far, choosing to dine in complete darkness —leaving their sight outside the darkened hall for a while, always guided by our trained blind and sighted volunteers.
This particular Dinner was co-organized by the company People for Business*, as part of strengthening meaningful collaboration and communication, as well as team building, among its partners.
On behalf of the company, its president, Revekka Pitsika, addressed the event:
“For a little while, we ‘lost’ our sight and yet, we experienced something so bright.
We stepped into the shoes of people who live every day without it.
At first with awkwardness and hesitation, but soon we made space for something deeper: communication, cooperation and connection with the person next to us.
It was an experience that reminded us of how important empathy, trust, and genuine human contact are values that lie at the heart of our corporate culture.
We left with deep appreciation and a better understanding of people with visual impairments, thanks to the strength with which they ‘saw’ us through the darkness.
A big thank you to the organization Me Alla Matia, to the volunteers, and to Vaggelis Avgoulas for the impeccable organization and the opportunity to experience something so meaningful and moving.”
Among those who attended the event were the well-known actor Tasos Iordanidis, lawyer and TV presenter Zoi Kronaki, Survivor participants Giorgos Angelopoulos and Eirini Kolida, Kathimerini journalist Lina Giannarou, the editor-in-chief of the “street magazine shedia” Christos Alefantis, singer Magda Varoucha, influencer Eirini Antonopoulou panathema_se, the founder and host of theSpeakers Apostolis Koumarinos, representatives of the company “Theoni Natural Mineral Water,” which supports various initiatives of our organization and many more.

The success of the dinner was reflected on the faces of the approximately 100 participants, who —once the lights came back on— immediately became a group of friends and shared their experience. Afterwards, they enjoyed a live music program.
