With a four-hour interactive educational seminar, this year’s tourist season kicked off for the NPO “Me Alla Matia” and the renowned Stanley Hotel in Athens!
People with disabilities met with hotel staff in an open dialogue aimed at familiarizing employees with visual, mobility, and auditory impairments, breaking stereotypes, and addressing questions. At the same time, the presenters shared good and bad practices internationally in the hospitality sector, based on their own experiential knowledge. They also discussed appropriate vocabulary, communication tips, and proper techniques for accommodating and serving people with disabilities.
The presentations were delivered by Juliana Busi accompanied by her guide dog Uni, Konstantinos Samaras, Panagiotis Pitsiniagkas, and Evangelos Avgoulas, with coordination by Thalia Kiousi, responsible for educational programs at “With Different Eyes.”
The educational seminar was sponsored by Otis Hellas as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. It’s worth noting that Otis Hellas has conducted similar seminars for its employees in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Heraklion, Crete. Additionally, as part of its CSR efforts, it provided relevant training to the staff of the “Mediterranean Cosmos” Commercial Center in Thessaloniki.
