The Coordinating Structure for Social Inclusion of the General Directorate of Public Health and Social Welfare organized on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Public Central Library of Tripoli, a disability awareness event.

The goal of this interactive seminar was to train staff working in citizen service roles in services of the Region of Peloponnese and in municipalities, in order to provide more effective services and interaction for disabled individuals accessing these services.

The training, delivered by experienced disabled professionals and specialists from the NPO “Me Alla Matia”, lasted 5 hours, and included familiarization of the employees with the basic legal framework and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as with the revised National Action Plan for Disability, focusing on the areas involving social services at the municipal and regional levels.

❗Furthermore, the main part of the training seminar covered modules on appropriate approaches and service provision for individuals with visual, mobility, and hearing impairments, as well as for neurodivergent individuals.

The event was honored by the presence of the Deputy Regional Governor for Social Solidarity & Support, who addressed the audience, along with the Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare & Solidarity of the Municipality of Tripoli, and the President of the Regional Federation of Disabled People of the Peloponnese.

Also in attendance were the Head of the Directorate of Social Welfare, staff from regional and municipal services, the Directorate of Public Health of the Peloponnese Region, the Directorate of Public Health of Argolida, the Directorate of Public Health of Arcadia, as well as personnel from the Community Centers of the Municipalities of East Mani, Ermionida, and Tripoli, and staff from the Municipal Day Center for Disabled People (KDAMEA) of Tripoli.
