NESCAFÉ® creates a world of equal access for all

Athens, 12 November 2025

NESCAFÉ®, the preferred coffee of Greek consumers, held an event at Nestlé’s headquarters in Maroussi to present its commitment and initiatives regarding equal access and the inclusion of disabled people in education and everyday life.

A key element of this plan is the enhancement of accessibility at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), an initiative implemented in cooperation with the non-profit civil company “Me Alla Matia” and AUEB.

A project with substantial social impact

The core of the project involves implementing accessibility upgrades across AUEB’s facilities, with the aim of facilitating students’ daily lives and ensuring their equal participation in the academic community.

The interventions funded by NESCAFÉ® include the creation of two accessible restrooms, the installation of a tactile guiding path for visually impaired individuals, the placement of stairlifts at key points of the building, as well as the procurement of equipment such as wheelchairs, stair climbers, and evacuation chairs.
Eleanna Galanaki, Associate Professor and Vice-Rector for Financial Planning and Infrastructure at AUEB, stated: “We would like to thank NESCAFÉ and the ‘Me Alla Matia’ initiative for believing in our vision. With their support, we are making our University more humane, more accessible, and fairer for all.”

Experiential awareness stations

During the event, guests had the opportunity to explore different types of disabilities through three experiential stations dedicated to visual, mobility, and hearing impairments.

The stations were designed and implemented by our team, offering participants the chance to understand the challenges encountered by disabled people, as well as the solutions that promote accessibility. Vangelis Avgoulas, our founder, remarked: “Our collaboration goes beyond corporate social responsibility actions. It has a substantive, advisory character. Nestlé acknowledges the challenges faced by disabled people, listens to us, and works with us on equal terms, integrating accessibility and inclusion into its strategic planning and culture. This demonstrates its commitment to taking meaningful steps toward inclusion.”

NESCAFÉ®’s commitment

NESCAFÉ® remains steadfast in its commitment to creating opportunities without exclusions, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a good cup of coffee and participate equally in society. Within this framework, the brand develops strategic partnerships and significant initiatives supporting persons with disabilities in Greece.

This commitment began in 2023 with the introduction of Braille writing on NESCAFÉ® Classic packaging lids, making the product more accessible for people with visual impairments.

NESCAFÉ® also collaborates with Pop2See, a Greek start-up that develops innovative, AI-powered technological solutions for visually impaired individuals. Through the corresponding mobile application, all information displayed on NESCAFÉ® packaging becomes accessible, addressing key challenges such as reading expiration dates.

Vangelis Dritsas, Soluble Marketing Manager at Nestlé, highlighted: “Coffee is more than a beverage—it is a moment of connection, joy, and warmth. At Nescafé, we believe these moments belong to everyone, without barriers or limitations. For us, accessibility means opening the way for every person to enjoy a good cup of coffee and to be an equal member of society. The strategy and work we present today are evidence of our commitment: to create a world that is more open, fair, and humane.”

Together for a world without exclusions

Through initiatives such as this, NESCAFÉ® continues to bring people together and contribute to the creation of a society without barriers, where access, participation, and acceptance are rights for all.

About NESCAFÉ

NESCAFÉ® was created in 1938. Its name combines the first three letters of “Nestlé” with the suffix “café.” In Greece, for more than 80 years, NESCAFÉ® has inspired us to enjoy each day, starting it together with a cup of coffee. A landmark in its history was the invention of NESCAFÉ® Frappé in 1957 at the Thessaloniki International Fair.

NESCAFÉ® has been present in every significant moment, every meaningful conversation, every carefree summer, and every new day—offering everyone the boost they need to enjoy life.
