On Thursday, January 22, as the NPO “Me Alla Matia”, we were delighted to participate in the informative event organized by the Unit and the Committee for Equal Access on visual, mobility, and hearing impairments. The event took place at the Antoniadou Auditorium, aiming to raise awareness of the challenges and needs related to accessibility and inclusion for disabled people.

We warmly thank the Vice-Rector for Economic Planning and Infrastructure, Dr. Eleanna Galanaki, Associate Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and Coordinator of the Committee for Equal Access, for the invitation and for our nearly two-year-long collaboration that makes such initiatives possible.

During the event, we conducted an educational session in which Thaleia Kiousi, Head of Inclusion Programs, and Vangelis Avgoulas, our President, trained part of the staff on how to approach and support disabled students.

This participation builds on our ongoing collaboration with AUEB, which began with a detailed accessibility assessment of the Patission building that we prepared, laying the groundwork for targeted improvements. Furthermore, thanks to our partnership with sponsor NesCafe, an important project has started to enhance meaningful inclusion through tactile guidance paths for the visually impaired, adapted restrooms, elevators, and evacuation wheelchairs, aiming for the smooth operation of the Equal Access Unit at the University.

It is particularly encouraging and inspiring to see such initiatives come to life bringing actions and people together toward a common goal of accessibility, education, and inclusion far from temporary or symbolic gestures.
