Psychologist | Systemic Psychotherapist

Nikos Vassalos is a psychologist with comprehensive training in systemic psychotherapy from the Systemic Psychology and Pedagogy Laboratory “Rodakino”. He studied Applied Psychology (BSc Hons Applied Psychology) at the University of Central Lancashire, Clinical Psychotherapy – Hypnotherapy at the Center for Applied Psychotherapy and Counseling (PgD), and Psychoanalytic Studies (MA) at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Since 2000, he has been involved in the field of mental health, in structures in England and Greece. He currently works as a psychologist at the organization Ploes – E.Psy.Me, while also being responsible for creating educational material and planning professional training at the Department of Research and Implementation of the organization R.D.I.

He has participated as a speaker in conferences, seminars, and educational programs, with a particular focus on disability and neurodevelopmental differences. He has published a fantasy story and a short fairy tale on the topic of autism, and he has also edited the publication of a collective work with short stories by beneficiaries of the organization Ploes – E.Psy.Me.

He is the co-founder of the space Stixi – Therapy, Education, Art, where he does individual and group therapies, experiential workshops, and educational programs with a systemic orientation.

His therapeutic approach is based on a systemic perspective that revolves around the concepts of inclusion, relationship, and coexistence. He believes that therapy is not detached from the world – it is a political act, because the effort for change and the reinterpretation of experiences beyond the dominant narratives is a stance against exclusion, normality, and inequality.
