The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center has been designed to operate in a way that is fully accessible to people with disabilities, remaining true to the vision of its creator, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, to be open to all.

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the SNFCC and Me Alla Matia NPO take us on a tour of the Center, highlighting the importance of equal participation, visibility, and inclusion of the disabled in cultural spaces as well as the public space.

In this video, Vaggelis Avgoulas, lawyer and President of Me Alla Matia NPO, Dimitra Kontova, artist, and Panagiotis Pitsiniagas, Motivational Speaker of SKEP, help us to get to know accessibility technologies and services in the built space and learn how they facilitate and enrich the visit of wheelchair users and people with visual impairments.

However, SNFCC’s commitment does not stop at the design and construction of the facilities.

Through its services and programs, the goal is to listen daily to the new or different needs arising and evolve, train, and prepare its staff even better. It aims to expand its work both for visitors and potential visitors and cultivate a culture of inclusion in our society.

Extra information:

  • The visitor service slots allow visitors in wheelchairs to have direct and equal contact with their interlocutors.
  • Guide dogs are welcome in all areas of the SNFCC.
  • The SNFCC has 20 parking spaces for the disabled on the ground floor of the building.
  • In the Stavros Niarchos Hall at the National Opera, there are places for wheelchairs and special lifts for their access.
  • The Shuttle Bus service is wheelchair accessible by arrangement.
  • Alongside accessibility services and technologies, the SNFCC offers a range of educational and school programs aimed at the interactive coexistence and participation of disabled and non-disabled people and the familiarization of students with the concept of accessibility.
